Kansas Housing Assistance Program offers

Up to 4% Cash Assistance

Kansas Housing Assistance Program is a STATEWIDE program for first-time homebuyers.
First-time homebuyers can receive up to 4% down payment assistance with their first home mortgage.

Sedgwick County and Shawnee County are the co-sponsors of this
STATEWIDE first-time homebuyer program.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Kansas Housing Assistance Program you must:

Have qualifying credit - a minimum credit score of 660 
(A 640-659 credit score is acceptable if the 3% borrower assistance option is used)

Be a first-time homebuyer – have not owned a home in the past three years, unless the home to be purchased is in a Qualified Targeted Area Census Tract

Meet the income and purchase price limit - see below

Purchase one of the following types of homes:
Single family detached homes
Duplex (provided one unit owner occupied)
Condominiums
Townhomes

Mortgage Rates
Mortgage rates are set daily and available to participating lenders online. Since the program began in February 2014, mortgage rates have ranged between 4.75%-5.00% with 4% cash assistance.

Eligible Borrowers


The total gross annual income for all residents living in the home, age 18 or older, must be within the income limits established for the program based on family size.

Only first‐time homebuyers may participate unless the home to be purchased is in a Federally Designated Targeted Area. A qualified first‐time homebuyer (and spouse) cannot have had an ownership interest in a primary residence for the past three years.
