Kansas Housing Assistance Program offers

Up to 5% Cash Assistance

Kansas Housing Assistance Program is a STATEWIDE program for first-time homebuyers.
First-time homebuyers can receive up to 5% down payment assistance grant with their first home mortgage.

Sedgwick County and Shawnee County are the co-sponsors of this
STATEWIDE first-time homebuyer program.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Kansas Housing Assistance Program you must:

Have qualifying credit - a minimum credit score of 640 for USDA-RA, VA and conventional loans or a minimum credit score of 60 for FHA loans. 

Be a first-time homebuyer – have not owned a home in the past three years, unless the home to be purchased is in a Targeted Area Census Tract

Meet the income and purchase price limit - see below

Purchase one of the following types of homes:
Single family detached homes
Duplex (provided one unit owner occupied)
Condominiums
Townhome

 

Program Benefits

A 30-year fixed rate mortgage loan with up to a 5% grant for cash assistance for down payment or closing costs.

30-year fixed rate mortgage loans:

  • FHA 203(b): 4% or 5%
  • USDA-RD: 2%
  • VA: 4% or 5%
  • Conventional: 0%, 4% or 5%

Unlimited funding
